The Ao Oni are the titular antagonists of the Ao Oni series. The Oni are a bizarre species of humanoid monsters that inhabit various places abandoned by humans, such as mansions or jailhouses. They seemingly feed on humans, and are capable of turning them into more Onis. Although their intentions seem to be based on instinct, it's possible that they simply feel lonely and wish to make more friends by turning humans into Onis.
