The Callipygian Venus. A Late 19th century French terracotta figure, after the antique. The Venus Callipyge, also known as the Aphrodite Kallipygos or the Callipygian Venus. All literally meaning Venus of the beautiful buttocks. Throughout the 17th and 18th centuries the statue was often referred to as Venus leaving the bath. The plinth is not included.
