In many ways, projects like the Barry Custom Chess Table and Seating captures the essence of custom furniture building. We designed the table and seating to perfectly fill a small empty space in our clients game room, while giving them something that they really desired for their home and family. At its best, building custom furniture is a marriage of desire and ability, both in the builder and in the space. Solid walnut and maple squares make up the chessboard, while the pedestal is built in solid mahogany. The seating is also built in solid mahogany and at the clients request was loosely modeled from a church pew. All of the details, both subtle and striking, come together to make an elegant and inviting space where family and friends can spend years coming together for a good old game of
